Whenever something receives a lot of hype I tend to go in the opposite direction, and it was impossible to avoid the hype around yesterday’s solar eclipse.  However, I also love learning from nature and while I hadn’t made big plans to view this event, when the time came my spouse and I found ourselves outside taking it all in (at least figuratively!)

Wisconsin was not in the path of a total eclipse, but it definitely got darker and we enjoyed seeing the excitement of other individuals and families, especially children.  We used a pinhole projector to view the eclipse, and I was fascinated by how this simple method works.  My friend Allen Washatko explained how this happens all the time with trees and leaves, and I’m including one of his photos.  Our world is full of “endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful” as Charles Darwin put it, and this wonder changes us in important ways.  Where do you experience wonder and how has it changed you?
