Recently my congregation participated in an egg hunt that grew from partnerships with our neighbors.  This year Easter arrived on a cold, drizzly March weekend and the volunteers found themselves hiding eggs in a steady rain, wondering if anyone would come out.  Thankfully, the rain subsided and an impressive group of neighbors showed up, dressed for the weather and ready to go.

It was a reminder of the power of community and the simple but profound ways that we experience it.  It also reminded me of the active nature of faith.  Pictured here is the granddaughter of one of my colleagues.  She often accompanies her “Gigi” to church meetings and always brings a sense of wonder and delight to what can otherwise be rather mundane and drab affairs.  It was a joy to see her enthusiasm for finding eggs that morning but also a lesson in the discoveries that await us all.  Perhaps you’ve moved beyond excitement over Easter eggs, but there are discoveries awaiting you each day for those open to them and willing to look.  What discoveries shape your sense of faith?
