Mission of the Month

All-Year Outreach Ministry
 
Each month our congregation emphasizes a particular outreach ministry. You are invited to support these ministries in whatever way your heart moves you. Contributions can be given in Mission of the Month envelopes found in your contribution envelope box or in the white envelopes in the church pews.
 
Following is a list of Missions of the Month for 2012:
 
January - St. Ben’s: Contributions are used to purchase ingredients for tuna casseroles members bake. Volunteers also make cupcakes and serve the homeless every other month at St. Ben’s in Milwaukee. Chairpersons: Trish and Jerry Gierach.
 
February – Mt. Meru Coffee Project: Contributions are used toward construction and maintenance of processing equipment so coffee farmers in Tanzania can increase production. Faith members are encouraged to purchase coffee throughout the year. Chairpersons: Joe and Dottie Dorr.
 
March – Friendship Ministries & Vacation Bible School: Friendship Ministries reaches out to Cognitively Disabled Adults. VBS is outreach to children ages 3 through 5th Grade. Contact persons: Melissa Miller & Toni Schnorr
 
April – Lutheran Volunteer Corps: Supports young adults who volunteer one or more years at clinics and social services. Contact person: Alisa Norquist 
 
May –  Crossways Camping Ministry: Operates three camps in north central Wisconsin. Provides retreats for all ages to enjoy
fellowship, God’s creation and faith-building. Contact person: Toni Schnorr
 
June – Lutheran Social Services:  Reaches over 100,000 people annually through a variety of services: adoption, refugee services; children, youth and family counseling; older adult and special needs services. Contact person: Joyce Christie
 
July –  Family House, Milwaukee:  Reaches out to elderly and families in an urban Milwaukee neighborhood. Contact person: Toni Schnorr
 
August – Interfaith Caregivers: Provides support to elderly and shut-in’s in Ozaukee County. Contact person: Esther Rusch
 
September – Luther Manor: Provides housing and care for older persons. LM Lakefield provides day care services to elderly and disabled. Chairperson: Joyce Christie 
 
October – The Salvadoran Lutheran Church Pastoral Support Endowment Fund: Provides a sustainable source of income for pastors of the Salvadoran Lutheran Church who serve in the poorest communities in El Salvador. Chairperson: Esther Rusch
 
November – World Hunger Appeal: Provides food, etc. for starving people around the world. Chairpersons: Joyce Christie & Esther Rusch
 
December- ELCA Disaster Response Funds: Domestic Response Fund and Inter-national Response Fund provide food, water, housing, etc. and spiritual support in times of disaster and as long as it is needed. Contact person: Joyce Christie
